Q. What's so special about this complex building? The complex is what's called a Soft Spot. A place where the supernatural over powers and magic becomes easier to tap. In addition to this, the complex works as a ward against The Gods. Their powers can't touch it and they cannot influence the going ons of the building. For this reason, it has become an attractive place to supernaturals and those whose lives have been unsettle by the Gods.
Q. How do characters find out about it? Various ways. In some cases it's simply luck and they stumble over an ad in the paper or a magazine and find out about it later. In some cases, they run into people who know about it. Rebecca Sibyl, the owner of the building, for her part has hired a number of agents to watch for those displaying supernatural traits, particularly Cursed. Supernaturals such as sirens, harpies, nymphs, etc are able to sense that the complex is a Soft Spot.
Q. Where is the complex located? In Manhattan, New York.
Q. Does my post have to take place in the complex? No. Posts can also take place in the city. These, however, should be posted in the gc_manhattan community rather than the gc_building community.
Q. Am I limited to the locations that are specified? Not at all.
Q. Can I create my own locations? Of course and absolutely! Additionally; if there's a business/location that your character owns or works at then you can PM the admin with two or three sentences of description and it's location and a sub-board can be made for your location!
Q. What does PB mean? PB stands for Played By. This is the singer, actress, model, etc that you will use for your character's physical image. Think about who you're going to choose however. Make sure you choose a PB that fits your character.
Q. Can I use a friend/myself/etc as my PB? No. Your PB must be an actress, singer, model, or other celebrity individual.
Q. Does my character have to be someone who lives in the complex? Not necessarily. They can also be someone who works for/in the complex (such as a janitor, waitress in the cafe, etc) but lives somewhere else in the city.
Q. Are mixed races allowed? The only mixed races allowed are those who breed with humans. These are called Touched and are under the race information here.
Q. Is there an age limit for characters? We'd like for the minimum character age to be 18. There will be some exceptions, for example if your character is playing the young daughter/son/niece/etc of and older character living in the complex. There is no maximum age.
Q. What is a Limiter? How does a supernatural get a Limiter? A Limiter is an item, usually a piece of jewelry, worn by a supernatural creature in order to hide their true physical appearance. Limiters are God made and typically use by creatures who cannot take on human forms on their own; such as Centaurs, Gorgons, Phoenix, etc. Most supernatural families have Limiters to give to/pass down to their children. They can also be bought from other supernaturals, if you know where to go.
Q. Does my character have to live with a roommate? No! There are four different types of rooms and two of them are singles. If you don't want to share a room then make sure you specify, in the "apartment description" portion of the application that it Style 1 or Style 2 apartment.
Q. Can my character live in an apartment that is already occupied? Absolutely! As long as the apartment is a Style 3 or Style 4 apartment, and it is not already filled. All apartments not filled can be moved into by any character. However, if your character is moving into an apartment that is already occupied they have to be a New Arrival character unless you speak to the player of the character who is already living there. Descriptions of already established apartments can be found here.
Q. What if I want to start my own multi-room apartment? Go for it! Just make sure tp fill out the "apartment description" portion of the application so players who might want to have their character room with yours know what the apartment looks like, what style it is, if theres anything odd about it, etc.
Q. Is my character allowed to go anywhere in the complex? Just about. In addition to the rooms, there is also the main lobby as well as a small cafe on the ground floor. There are also general sitting rooms on each of the floors. There is a basement and an attic, however they are both locked and cannot be entered. ...for now.
Q. What is the E-mail, Phone Calls, & Messaging board for? Any and all indirect character communication. It can be IMs, text messaging, phone calls, letters, emails, faxes--any form of indirect communication or correspondence between characters goes in that board.
